Coordinate systems and datums - common mistakes in drone mapping
Seeing a lot of drone data come across my desk with coordinate system issues. Common problems:
- Mixing NAD83 and WGS84 (they're NOT the same thing)
- Wrong geoid model applied to elevations
- State plane vs UTM confusion
- Survey feet vs international feet (yes, this is still a thing)
Figured I'd start a thread on best practices. What coordinate system workflow do you use to make sure everything lines up?
