Before/after of vegetation encroachment on power line ROW

Cool project where drone data actually changed the client's approach. Utility company thought they needed to clear 50 miles of ROW. We flew it with LiDAR and identified only 12 miles with actual encroachment issues.

Saved them hundreds of thousands in clearing costs. The vegetation analysis tools in TerraScan made quick work of identifying what was actually within the danger zone.

This is where drone survey really shines - finding problems precisely instead of treating everything the same.

This is exactly the value prop for utility LiDAR. Photogrammetry can't see through trees to identify the actual conflicts. Did you deliver a clearing priority map?

@LidarLarry Yes - prioritized by severity. Red zones needed immediate clearing, yellow zones needed monitoring, green zones were compliant. Made their budget planning much easier.

What was your point density for detecting smaller vegetation? We've had issues with missing brush that's technically in the wire zone.
