12,000 acre ranch mapping - Wingtra results

Just wrapped up a massive boundary and topo project on a cattle ranch in Montana. 12,000 acres total, mapped over 5 days with a WingtraOne GEN II.

Stats:

47 individual flights
28,000+ images
2cm GSD at 400ft AGL
85 GCPs (distributed by ATV)
Final accuracy: 1.8cm horizontal, 2.4cm vertical

Processed in Pix4D over about a week. The client wanted a full topo for land planning plus boundary verification against their deed. Happy to answer questions about the workflow.

That's an impressive project. How'd you handle the GCP distribution over that size? 85 points on 12k acres is a lot of ground to cover.

@PPK_Pete The ranch manager let us use their ATVs. We'd set 15-20 GCPs in the morning, fly that section, then move to the next area. Took about 2 hours of ground work per flight area.

@CorridorKate About 45-50 minutes per flight covering 300-400 acres each. Went through about 60 battery cycles total. The Wingtra batteries held up great.
