Had my first real crash yesterday. M350 RTK hit a guy wire that wasn't on the site plans. Drone is totaled, $14k loss. No injuries, no property damage beyond the drone.
Filing a claim with BWI. Anyone been through this process? How long does it take? Do they require an investigation?
Also, who's responsible for unmarked guy wires on a construction site? The GC? The utility company?

Sign inFiled a claim with BWI two years ago for an M300 prop strike. Process was straightforward - filed online, submitted photos and flight logs, had a check in about 3 weeks. They didn't send an investigator for a sub-$20k claim.
Save all your flight data, photos of the scene, and the guy wire. Document everything.
The GC should have marked all overhead obstructions. If the guy wire isn't on the site plans AND wasn't marked, you may have a negligence claim against the GC or their sub.
Talk to your insurance about subrogation. They may pursue the GC's insurance to recover their payout, which helps your claims history.
