Need to add LiDAR capability but the DJI L2 at $15k is hard to justify for occasional use. Seeing some Hesai-based systems from Chinese manufacturers at half the price.
Anyone have experience with the off-brand LiDAR systems? Specifically looking at the options that mount on M300/M350. Worried about software support and accuracy.

Sign inConsider renting before buying. Several vendors rent L2 systems by the week. Do a few projects, see if the demand justifies ownership.
We tried a Hesai XT32 based system last year. Hardware was fine but the software was a nightmare. Spent more time troubleshooting than flying. Ended up buying the L1 anyway.
You get what you pay for with LiDAR.
The Yellowscan Mapper is worth looking at if you want non-DJI. More expensive than L2 but rock solid and great support. Popular in forestry.
